NGC 1887
NGC 1887 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Columba. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834 and is approximately 4,000 light-years away from Earth. The cluster contains around 100 stars, with its brightest member being of magnitude 10.5.
This cluster is estimated to be about 1.5 billion years old, making it relatively mature compared to younger clusters. NGC 1887 is notable for its relatively low concentration of stars, which allows for easier observation of individual stars within the cluster.
