NGC 1060
NGC 1060 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Eridanus. It is approximately 60 million light-years away from Earth and is part of a group of galaxies known as the Eridanus Group. NGC 1060 has a bright central region and features prominent spiral arms that contain young stars and regions of active star formation.
Discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834, NGC 1060 is classified as a type SBbc galaxy. Its structure and composition make it an interesting subject for astronomers studying galaxy formation and evolution. Observations of NGC 1060 contribute to our understanding of the dynamics of spiral galaxies.
