NGC 1030
NGC 1030 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Phoenix. It is approximately 50 million light-years away from Earth and is part of the Hubble Space Telescope survey. The galaxy has a diameter of about 60,000 light-years and is notable for its bright central bar structure.
Discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834, NGC 1030 is classified as a type SBc galaxy, indicating its spiral arms are well-defined but not tightly wound. Observations of NGC 1030 contribute to our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution in the universe.
