NGC 1008
NGC 1008 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 60 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834. This galaxy is notable for its bright central bar structure and well-defined spiral arms, which are characteristic features of barred spiral galaxies.
The galaxy has an apparent magnitude of about 13.5, making it faint and challenging to observe without a telescope. NGC 1008 is part of a larger group of galaxies and is often studied to understand the formation and evolution of spiral galaxies in the universe.
