Myositis Ossificans
Myositis Ossificans is a condition where bone tissue forms inside muscles or soft tissues after an injury. This abnormal bone growth can occur after trauma, surgery, or even without a clear cause. It often leads to pain, swelling, and reduced mobility in the affected area.
The condition is most commonly seen in athletes and can affect any muscle group, but it frequently occurs in the quadriceps or hamstrings. Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests like X-rays or MRI, and treatment may include physical therapy, medication, or, in severe cases, surgery to remove the excess bone.
