Myiasis
Myiasis is a medical condition caused by the infestation of living tissues by the larvae of certain fly species. These larvae, commonly known as maggots, can invade various parts of the body, including the skin, wounds, and even internal organs. Myiasis can occur in humans and animals, often resulting from poor hygiene or exposure to contaminated environments.
There are different types of myiasis, such as cutaneous myiasis, where larvae infect the skin, and intestinal myiasis, which affects the digestive system. Treatment typically involves removing the larvae and cleaning the affected area to prevent infection. In severe cases, medical intervention may be necessary to address complications.
