Muwahhidun
The term "Muwahhidun" refers to a group of Muslims who emphasize the oneness of God, or Tawhid. This belief is central to Islamic theology, asserting that there is only one God who is unique and incomparable. Muwahhidun often advocate for a strict monotheism and may reject any practices that they perceive as compromising this principle.
Historically, the Muwahhidun movement gained prominence in the 12th century under the leadership of Ibn Tumart in North Africa. This movement sought to purify Islam from what they considered innovations and deviations, promoting a return to the original teachings of Prophet Muhammad. Their influence can still be seen in various Islamic thought and practices today.
