Mutesa I
Mutesa I was the king of the Buganda Kingdom in present-day Uganda from 1856 until his death in 1884. He is known for his efforts to modernize the kingdom and strengthen its political structure. Mutesa I welcomed European explorers and missionaries, which helped to introduce new ideas and technologies to his people.
Under Mutesa I's reign, the Buganda Kingdom expanded its territory and influence. He established diplomatic relations with various foreign powers, including the British Empire, which played a significant role in the region's history.
