Muscles of the Hand
The muscles of the hand are primarily divided into two groups: intrinsic and extrinsic muscles. The intrinsic muscles, located within the hand itself, include the thenar and hypothenar muscles, which control thumb and little finger movements, respectively. They also include the lumbricals and interossei muscles, which assist in finger flexion and extension.
Extrinsic muscles originate in the forearm and connect to the hand via tendons. These muscles, such as the flexor and extensor groups, enable powerful movements like gripping and releasing objects. Together, these muscle groups allow for the complex and precise movements of the hand.
