Muscle Tone Disorders
Muscle tone disorders refer to conditions that affect the tension and firmness of muscles at rest. These disorders can result in either increased muscle tone, known as hypertonia, or decreased muscle tone, known as hypotonia. Individuals with hypertonia may experience stiffness and difficulty moving, while those with hypotonia may have weakness and reduced muscle control.
These disorders can arise from various causes, including neurological conditions, genetic factors, or injuries. Common examples include cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. Treatment often involves physical therapy, medications, or other interventions aimed at improving muscle function and overall mobility.
