Multi-Tiered System
A Multi-Tiered System (MTS) is an educational framework designed to provide varying levels of support to students based on their individual needs. It typically consists of three tiers: Tier 1 includes high-quality instruction for all students, Tier 2 offers targeted interventions for those who need additional help, and Tier 3 provides intensive support for students with significant challenges. This approach aims to ensure that every student receives the appropriate level of assistance to succeed.
The MTS framework is often used in conjunction with other strategies, such as Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). By systematically identifying and addressing student needs, educators can create a more inclusive learning environment. This method not only helps improve academic outcomes but also fosters social and emotional development among students.
