Movimento 5 Stelle
Movimento 5 Stelle, or the Five Star Movement, is an Italian political party founded in 2009 by Beppe Grillo and Gianroberto Casaleggio. The party emerged from a grassroots movement focused on issues like environmentalism, direct democracy, and anti-corruption. It gained popularity through its use of the internet and social media to engage citizens and promote political participation.
The party's platform includes advocating for sustainable development, reducing waste, and improving public services. In the 2013 general elections, the Five Star Movement became the largest party in the Chamber of Deputies, marking a significant shift in Italian politics.
