Movement for Democratic Change
The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) is a political party in Zimbabwe founded in 1999. It emerged as a response to the growing demand for democratic reforms and better governance in the country. The MDC has aimed to challenge the long-standing rule of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) and promote human rights, social justice, and economic development.
The party has undergone several leadership changes and internal divisions over the years. Key figures include Morgan Tsvangirai, the founding leader, who played a significant role in Zimbabwean politics until his death in 2018. The MDC continues to advocate for democratic principles and seeks to unite various opposition groups in the country.
