Mount Sinabung
Mount Sinabung is an active volcano located in North Sumatra, Indonesia. It rises to an elevation of 2,460 meters (8,070 feet) and is part of the Sumatra volcanic arc. The volcano has been erupting intermittently since 2010, with significant eruptions occurring in 2013 and 2014, leading to the evacuation of nearby communities.
The eruptions of Mount Sinabung have produced ash plumes, pyroclastic flows, and lava domes. The surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, with lush forests and various wildlife. Due to its activity, the region is closely monitored by the Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation.
