Mount Ontake
Mount Ontake is an active stratovolcano located on the border of Nagano and Gifu prefectures in Japan. It stands at 3,067 meters (10,362 feet) and is the second-highest volcano in the country. The mountain is part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park and is known for its beautiful landscapes, hiking trails, and rich biodiversity.
The volcano last erupted in September 2014, resulting in tragic fatalities. Mount Ontake is also a significant site for Shinto worship, with several shrines located on its slopes. It attracts many visitors for both its natural beauty and cultural importance.
