Moses Touro
Moses Touro was a prominent Jewish leader and philanthropist born in 1781 in Newport, Rhode Island. He is best known for his role in the establishment of the Touro Synagogue, the oldest surviving synagogue in the United States, which was completed in 1763. Touro was instrumental in supporting Jewish education and community welfare.
