Moscow principality
The Moscow principality was a medieval state that emerged in the 13th century in the region of present-day Russia. It began as a small territory centered around the city of Moscow and gradually expanded its influence through strategic marriages, military conquests, and political alliances. The principality played a crucial role in the unification of the Russian lands.
By the late 15th century, under the leadership of Ivan III, also known as Ivan the Great, the Moscow principality became a powerful entity, laying the groundwork for the future Tsardom of Russia. Its growth marked the beginning of Moscow's rise as a major political and cultural center in Eastern Europe.
