Morgan's Raid
Morgan's Raid was a significant military operation during the American Civil War, led by Confederate General John Hunt Morgan in 1863. This daring cavalry raid involved a series of maneuvers through the northern states of Indiana and Ohio, aiming to disrupt Union supply lines and gather intelligence. Morgan's forces traveled over 1,000 miles, engaging in skirmishes and evading capture.
The raid began in June 1863 and lasted about two weeks, ultimately resulting in the capture of Morgan and many of his men. Despite its initial successes, the raid failed to achieve its strategic goals and highlighted the challenges of conducting long-range cavalry operations in enemy territory.
