Montreal Cognitive Assessment
The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) is a brief screening tool designed to assess cognitive function. It evaluates various cognitive domains, including memory, attention, language, and executive functions. The test typically takes about 10 minutes to complete and is often used to detect mild cognitive impairment and early signs of dementia.
Developed in 1996 by Dr. Ziad Nasreddine, the MoCA is widely used in clinical settings and research. It consists of 30 questions, with a maximum score of 30 points. A score of 26 or above is generally considered normal, while lower scores may indicate cognitive difficulties.
