Mojave Fern
The Mojave Fern, scientifically known as *Cheilanthes covillei*, is a small, hardy fern native to the arid regions of the Mojave Desert in the southwestern United States. It typically grows in rocky, well-drained soils and can often be found in shaded areas, such as under shrubs or in crevices of rocks. This fern is adapted to survive in dry conditions, making it a unique member of the fern family.
Mojave Fern features delicate, finely divided fronds that can reach up to 12 inches in length. The leaves are usually a vibrant green, providing a striking contrast against the desert landscape. This plant plays a role in its ecosystem by helping to prevent soil erosion and providing habitat for small wildlife.
