Mohawk Nation
The Mohawk Nation is one of the original five nations of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederacy), located primarily in what is now northern New York and southern Canada. The Mohawks are known for their rich cultural heritage, including traditional crafts, music, and dance. Their historical territory includes areas around the St. Lawrence River and the Mohawk Valley.
Today, the Mohawk Nation is represented by several communities, including Akwesasne, Kahnawake, and Kanesatake. These communities maintain their unique languages, customs, and governance systems. The Mohawks have a strong commitment to preserving their identity and advocating for their rights and sovereignty.
