Mohamed Bouazizi
Mohamed Bouazizi was a Tunisian street vendor who became a symbol of resistance against oppression. On December 17, 2010, he faced harassment from local authorities while trying to sell fruits and vegetables. In protest of this treatment, he set himself on fire, which sparked widespread protests across Tunisia.
His act of self-immolation is often credited with igniting the Arab Spring, a series of anti-government protests throughout the Arab world. Bouazizi's struggle highlighted issues of unemployment, corruption, and human rights, leading to significant political changes in Tunisia and inspiring movements in other countries.
