Modibbo Adama
Modibbo Adama was a prominent Fulani leader and the founder of the Adamawa Emirate in present-day Nigeria. He played a significant role in the Fulani Jihad during the early 19th century, which aimed to establish Islamic governance in the region. His leadership helped to unify various tribes and promote the spread of Islam.
Born in 1786, Modibbo Adama was a student of Usman dan Fodio, the leader of the Fulani Jihad. After the jihad, he established the emirate in 1809, which became a center for trade and Islamic scholarship. His legacy continues to influence the culture and politics of the Adamawa State today.
