Mo Ibrahim
Mo Ibrahim is a Sudanese-British businessman and philanthropist, best known for founding the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. He was born on May 3, 1946, in Sudan and later moved to the United Kingdom for his education. Ibrahim made his fortune in the telecommunications industry, particularly through the establishment of Celtel, a mobile phone company that expanded access to mobile services across Africa.
In addition to his business success, Ibrahim is recognized for his commitment to improving governance and leadership in Africa. The Mo Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership is awarded annually to former African heads of state who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to their countries.
