Miscarriage Management
Miscarriage management refers to the medical care and support provided to individuals who experience a miscarriage, which is the loss of a pregnancy before the 20th week. This process may involve monitoring symptoms, performing ultrasounds, and conducting blood tests to assess the situation. Depending on the circumstances, healthcare providers may recommend options such as expectant management, medical management, or surgical management to help the body complete the miscarriage.
Expectant management allows the body to naturally expel pregnancy tissue, while medical management involves medications to assist in this process. Surgical management, often through a procedure called dilation and curettage (D&C), may be necessary if complications arise or if the miscarriage is incomplete. Emotional support and counseling are also important aspects of miscarriage management to help individuals cope with their loss.
