Mirza Taghi Khan Amir Kabir
Mirza Taghi Khan Amir Kabir was a prominent Iranian statesman and reformer in the 19th century. Born in 1807, he served as the Prime Minister of Persia under Naser al-Din Shah Qajar from 1848 to 1851. Amir Kabir is best known for his efforts to modernize Iran, focusing on education, industry, and infrastructure.
He established the first modern school in Iran, Dar al-Funun, which aimed to educate young Iranians in science and technology. Despite his significant contributions, Amir Kabir faced opposition from conservative factions and was ultimately dismissed and assassinated in 1852, leaving a lasting legacy in Iranian history.
