Miriam A. Ferguson
Miriam A. Ferguson was an American politician who served as the Governor of Texas from 1925 to 1927 and again from 1933 to 1935. She was the first woman to hold this position in the state and was known for her progressive policies, including support for education and social welfare programs.
Ferguson was a member of the Democratic Party and was often referred to as "Ma" Ferguson. Her tenure was marked by efforts to improve the state's economy during the Great Depression and to address issues related to Prohibition and law enforcement.
