Minneriya Tank
Minneriya Tank is a large reservoir located in the Minneriya National Park in Sri Lanka. Built during the 3rd century AD, it was originally constructed for irrigation purposes. The tank plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem, providing water to both wildlife and nearby agricultural lands.
The tank is famous for its seasonal gathering of elephants, particularly during the dry months when water sources become scarce. This phenomenon attracts tourists and wildlife enthusiasts, making it a popular destination for observing the majestic Asian elephants in their natural habitat.
