Mindon Min
Mindon Min was the penultimate king of the Konbaung Dynasty in Burma (now Myanmar). He reigned from 1853 to 1878 and is known for his efforts to modernize the country, including reforms in administration, military, and education.
During his reign, Mindon Min established the Mandalay Palace and moved the capital from Ava to Mandalay. He also promoted Buddhism, commissioning the construction of the Kuthodaw Pagoda, which houses the world's largest book, inscribed with the Tipitaka scriptures. His reign ended with his death in 1878, leading to the eventual fall of the dynasty.
