Military of Uganda
The Military of Uganda, officially known as the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF), is the armed forces of Uganda. It consists of the land forces, air force, and reserves, and is responsible for defending the country against external threats and maintaining internal security. The UPDF has its roots in the National Resistance Army, which played a key role in the 1980s during the Ugandan civil war.
The UPDF is involved in various peacekeeping missions across Africa, often collaborating with organizations like the African Union. It has also participated in counter-terrorism operations, particularly against groups like Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army. The military is a significant institution in Uganda, influencing both politics and society.
