Military Governments
Military governments are political systems where the military controls the government, often following a coup d'état. In these situations, military leaders may suspend existing laws, dissolve political parties, and impose martial law to maintain order. This type of governance can arise in countries facing political instability, civil unrest, or external threats.
Under military governments, civil liberties and political freedoms are typically restricted. The military may justify its rule by claiming to restore stability or protect national security. Examples of military governments include those in Myanmar and Argentina during the late 20th century, where military leaders took power amid crises.
