Mikołaj Rej
Mikołaj Rej was a Polish poet and writer, often regarded as the father of Polish literature. Born in 1505, he played a significant role in developing the Polish language in literature, writing primarily in Polish rather than Latin, which was common at the time. His works include poetry, prose, and plays that reflect the culture and society of 16th-century Poland.
Rej was also a prominent figure in the Polish Renaissance, contributing to the Reformation movement in Poland. His most famous work, "Żywot człowieka poczciwego" (The Life of a Good Man), emphasizes moral values and the importance of living a virtuous life. Rej's influence on Polish literature and culture remains significant to this day.
