He is best known for his epic novel, And Quiet Flows the Don, which depicts the lives of Cossacks during the tumultuous period of the Russian Revolution and the Civil War. Sholokhov's work is celebrated for its rich storytelling and deep exploration of human emotions.
In 1965, Sholokhov was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his contributions to literature, particularly for his ability to capture the spirit of the Russian people. He continued to write and engage in literary activities until his death on February 21, 1984.
