Midwives
Midwives are trained professionals who assist women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. They provide care that includes monitoring the health of the mother and baby, offering education about childbirth, and supporting the family throughout the process. Midwives can work in various settings, including hospitals, birthing centers, and home births.
There are different types of midwives, such as Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), who are registered nurses with advanced training, and Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs), who focus on out-of-hospital births. Midwives emphasize a holistic approach to childbirth, promoting natural processes while being prepared to handle complications if they arise.
