Certified Nurse Midwives
Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) are advanced practice registered nurses who specialize in providing care to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. They are trained to offer a range of services, including prenatal care, labor and delivery support, and gynecological exams. CNMs focus on promoting natural childbirth and supporting women's health throughout their lives.
To become a CNM, individuals must first earn a nursing degree and obtain a registered nurse (RN) license. They then complete a master's or doctoral program in midwifery, which includes clinical training. CNMs are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and can practice in various settings, including hospitals, birthing centers, and home births.
