Midway-class
The Midway-class refers to a class of aircraft carriers built for the United States Navy during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Named after the Battle of Midway, these ships were designed to support naval aviation and project power at sea. The class includes three ships: USS Midway, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, and USS Coral Sea. They were notable for their large flight decks and advanced technology for their time.
Midway-class carriers played a significant role in various conflicts, including the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. They were equipped to carry a wide range of aircraft, including F-4 Phantom II and A-6 Intruder. The last of the class, USS Midway, was decommissioned in 1992 and is now a museum in San Diego.
