Midsummer celebrations
Midsummer celebrations are traditional festivities that occur around the summer solstice, typically in late June. These events are marked by various customs, including bonfires, dancing, and feasting. Many cultures, especially in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, celebrate the longest day of the year with rituals that honor nature and fertility.
In Sweden, for example, people often raise a maypole adorned with flowers and greenery, dancing around it to traditional songs. Similarly, in Finland, Midsummer, known as Juhannus, involves gatherings by lakes and rivers, where people enjoy outdoor activities and celebrate the warmth of summer with family and friends.
