Microtunneling
Microtunneling is a trenchless construction method used to install underground pipelines and utilities. It involves the use of a small, remotely operated tunnel boring machine that creates a tunnel while simultaneously installing the pipe. This technique minimizes surface disruption and is often used in urban areas where space is limited.
The process begins with a launch shaft where the boring machine is placed. As it advances, it excavates soil and pushes the pipe into position. Microtunneling is particularly useful for projects involving sewer systems, water mains, and telecommunication lines, providing a cost-effective and efficient solution for underground construction.
