Micropropagation
Micropropagation is a plant propagation technique that involves growing plants from small tissue samples in a controlled environment. This method allows for the rapid multiplication of plants, ensuring that the new plants are genetically identical to the parent plant. It is commonly used for producing large numbers of disease-free plants.
The process typically starts with the selection of a healthy plant, from which small pieces of tissue, called explants, are taken. These explants are placed in a nutrient-rich medium that promotes growth. Over time, the explants develop into full plants, which can then be transferred to soil or other growing conditions.
