Micropile
A micropile is a small-diameter foundation element used to support structures in challenging soil conditions. Typically ranging from 2 to 12 inches in diameter, these piles are installed using specialized drilling techniques. They are often reinforced with steel and can be used in both tension and compression applications, making them versatile for various construction projects.
Micropiles are particularly useful in areas with limited access or where traditional piling methods are impractical. They can be employed for underpinning existing structures, stabilizing slopes, or supporting new buildings. Their ability to transfer loads to deeper, more stable soil layers enhances the overall stability of the structure.
