Michael Cacoyannis was a renowned Greek film director, screenwriter, and producer, born on June 11, 1922, in Limassol, Cyprus. He is best known for his adaptation of the ancient Greek tragedy Euripides' "The Bacchae" and the acclaimed film "Zorba the Greek," which starred Anthony Quinn.
