Metacomet Trail
The Metacomet Trail is a scenic hiking path located in the northeastern United States, primarily in the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts. Stretching over 60 miles, it offers outdoor enthusiasts a chance to explore diverse landscapes, including forests, ridges, and views of the surrounding countryside. The trail is part of the larger Metacomet-Monadnock Trail, which connects to other hiking routes in the region.
Established in the 1970s, the Metacomet Trail is named after Metacomet, also known as King Philip, a leader of the Wampanoag tribe. The trail is well-marked and maintained, making it accessible for hikers of various skill levels. It provides opportunities for wildlife observation and connects to several parks and natural areas.
