Messier_51
Messier_51, also known as the Whirlpool Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy located approximately 23 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici. It is famous for its distinct spiral structure and is interacting with a smaller galaxy, NGC 5195, which gives it a unique appearance.
Discovered by Charles Messier in 1773, Messier_51 is one of the most studied galaxies in the night sky. It has a prominent central bulge and well-defined spiral arms, making it a popular target for both amateur and professional astronomers. Its bright core and rich star formation regions are particularly noteworthy.
