Messier 80
Messier 80 (M80) is a globular cluster located in the constellation Scorpius. It is approximately 32,600 light-years away from Earth and contains hundreds of thousands of stars. M80 is one of the densest globular clusters known, with a high concentration of stars in its core.
Discovered by Charles Messier in 1781, M80 is notable for its bright appearance and rich stellar population. It has an estimated age of around 12 billion years, making it one of the older clusters in our galaxy, the Milky Way. Observations of M80 reveal a variety of stellar types, including many red giants.
