Messier 68
Messier 68 is a globular cluster located in the constellation Hydra. It is approximately 33,000 light-years away from Earth and contains hundreds of thousands of stars, tightly packed together due to their mutual gravitational attraction. This cluster is about 11 billion years old, making it one of the older star clusters in our galaxy.
Discovered by Charles Messier in 1780, Messier 68 is designated as M68 in the Messier catalog. It has an apparent magnitude of around 8.2, which means it is faintly visible through small telescopes. The cluster is a fascinating object for astronomers studying the formation and evolution of stars.
