Messier 6
Messier 6, also known as the Butterfly Cluster, is an open star cluster located in the constellation Scorpius. It contains around 80 stars and is approximately 1,600 light-years away from Earth. The cluster is named for its shape, which resembles a butterfly when viewed through a telescope.
Discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, Messier 6 is notable for its bright stars and is best observed during the summer months in the Northern Hemisphere. The cluster is estimated to be about 100 million years old, making it relatively young in astronomical terms.
