Meskhetians
The Meskhetians are an ethnic group originally from the Meskheti region in southwestern Georgia. They primarily speak the Georgian language and have a rich cultural heritage that includes unique traditions, music, and cuisine. Historically, they have faced various challenges, including forced migrations and discrimination.
In the 1940s, many Meskhetians were deported by the Soviet government, leading to their settlement in different countries, including Turkey, Russia, and the United States. Today, Meskhetians strive to preserve their cultural identity while integrating into their new communities, often forming close-knit groups to maintain their traditions.
