Mer (Sea)
The term "Mer" is the French word for "sea." It refers to large bodies of saltwater that cover significant portions of the Earth's surface. Seas are smaller than oceans and are often partially enclosed by land. They play a crucial role in regulating climate, supporting marine life, and facilitating trade and transportation.
Seas are home to diverse ecosystems, including coral reefs, kelp forests, and various species of fish and marine mammals. Important seas include the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean Sea, and the Red Sea. These bodies of water are vital for human activities such as fishing, tourism, and shipping.
