Menderes River
The Menderes River, also known as the Meander River, is located in western Turkey. It flows through the provinces of Aydın and Muğla, eventually emptying into the Aegean Sea. The river is approximately 230 kilometers long and is known for its winding, serpentine shape, which has inspired the term "meander" in geography.
Historically, the Menderes River was significant for ancient civilizations, including the Hittites and Greeks. The fertile valley surrounding the river has supported agriculture for centuries, making it an important resource for local communities. Today, the river remains a vital water source and is popular for recreational activities.
