Melchizedek priesthood
The Melchizedek Priesthood is a significant religious authority in the Latter-day Saint movement, named after the biblical figure Melchizedek, who was both a king and a priest. This priesthood is believed to hold the authority to perform sacred ordinances, such as blessings and the administration of the sacraments, and is considered a higher order of priesthood compared to the Aaronic Priesthood.
Members of the Latter-day Saint faith believe that the Melchizedek Priesthood was restored to the earth in the 19th century through the prophet Joseph Smith. It is conferred upon worthy male members, enabling them to serve in various leadership roles within the church and to act in the name of God.
